The ever so popular gourmet evenings of the award winning Bosman’s Restaurant at the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl will be held in August and September this year. The gourmet evenings promises to be a gastronomic highlight at a hotel that has been singled out as one of the top restaurant destinations in the world. Guests will be assured of an unforgettable experience, as these evenings are designed to entice discerning food and wine connoisseurs to join top wine makers and wine personalities for the evening.

The gourmet experience will include an aperitif served from 19h00, a five course gourmet dinner with a selection of different wines especially chosen by the hosts to match each course, coffee and petit fours.

The first gourmet evening will be held on Saturday, 15th August 2009, and will feature internationally acclaimed winemaker and viticulturist Duncan Savage of Cape Point Vineyards and leading French winemaker Antoine Du Pre of Morgenster Estate.

Duncan’s wines have been recognized both locally and internationally with numerous 5 star ratings in the Platter’s guide and Wine magazine, several Wine Spectator ratings and the Best Sauvignon Blance in the world over £10 according to the Decanter World Wine Awards. Cape Point vineyards have been recognized as Winery of the Year by the 2008 John Platter Wine Guide.

Antoine studied Oenology at the University of Bordeaux was awarded the first prize of the Union of French Oenology. After several stints as winemaker for some prestigious Bordeaux Estates, he joined Morgenster Estate a year ago. Morgenster is an old wine estate that continues to rival the best wine and olive producers in South Africa and in the world.

The last gourmet evening on Saturday, 5th September 2009 will feature Mia Mårtensson, current marketing manager of The Winery of Good Hope and former vice-President of the Swedish Sommelier Association and ex Cellar master at the Grande Roche. The Winery of Good Hope encompasses everything characteristic about the ‘New South Africa’. A diverse cultural and racial mosaic, combining indigenous South Africans with Northern and Southern Hemisphere adoptees - a blending of ideas, of values and of purpose, creating a natural dynamic for innovation and success. Across everything it creates, The Winery of Good Hope aims to consistently provide its followers with quality and value, whilst combining a pursuit of innovation with a healthy respect of tradition. The personalities and characters that make up The Winery of Good Hope are evident in each of the different wines. And as so often in such circumstances, the sum of the parts is so much greater than the ability of the individual.

The price is R780 per person.

And should guests wish to stay at the Grand Roche Hotel on the evening, a complete package rate of R1 700-00 per person sharing is available - this rate includes the gourmet evening, accommodation in a luxury room and the opportunity to enjoy a breakfast buffet the following morning including sparkling wine and oysters.
