Delheim Garden Restaurant
A range of dishes have been specially created including snail and mushroom soup, pasta escargot (similar to vongole), dolmades with rice and vine leaves and escargot paté.
Also known as ‘le petit escargot from the Cape’ and a little smaller than its French cousin from Burgundy, the Helix Aspersa has a better texture and a more attractive Champagne body colour. Delheim estimates that, if each snail has travelled a tenth of a food mile to get to their restaurant tables, it’s a lot – and not many foods can claim such low food miles these days!
