On three December evenings, Spier’s amphitheatre will fill with dancers, musicians, singers and actors as A Summer Dream returns for its fifth year from 11 to 13 December.

Produced by Brett Bailey of Third World Bunfight and set to the music of Jak Tomas, this hour-long performance brings music, movement and storytelling together beneath the stars. It’s a joyful start to the festive season, made for the whole family.

With the festive season just around the corner, it’s a good excuse to gather friends and family and make an evening of it. Ticketing opens at 18h00, leaving plenty of time for a Farmer Angus burger from Bubbles & Braai, a Vadas pizza or a sunset Spier picnic on the Werf before the performance.

Guests with show-only tickets are welcome to arrive later but should allow enough time to check in before 19h30. At 19h30, the bell will ring and a guide will lead the short procession from the Werf to the amphitheatre, where the performance will begin.

Make a weekend of it

Turn the evening into a weekend at Spier Hotel. Children aged 3–12 enjoy complimentary access to the Buzz Club, where seasonal activities and supervised adventures bring farm life into play. Beyond the club, take a village bicycle for a morning ride, stop at the Food Garden to visit our runner ducks or spend a slow afternoon beside the heated pool. New family rooms open this December.

Good to know

The amphitheatre is a short walk from the Werf, so comfortable shoes are recommended. If you have a food ticket, we recommend bringing a picnic blanket to enjoy your meal on the lawn. Chairs are provided for the performance and space is limited, so please leave your own at home. Summer evenings can turn cool once the sun goes down, so bring an extra layer.

If bad weather is expected, we’ll contact you on the day of the event to confirm whether the performance will go ahead.
