Bake with citrus and spice at Soetmelksvlei

We celebrate citrus alongside South Africa’s spice heritage in this hands-on workshop at Soetmelksvlei. Following a short ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg, we’ll descend towards the historical farmyard of Soetmelksvlei, which represents a time when life was simpler and craftsmanship was treasured.

Here, master baker Martjie Malan will guide you through a world of sweetly spiced bakes, including delicious orange and cardamom tea cake, lemon drizzle madeleines, as well as a few more surprises. Spice is engrained in the South African food heritage and this workshop celebrates the warmth it brings to the kitchen.

After a hands-on workshop, we’ll enjoy a hearty lunch at the Old Stables Restaurant before heading back to Babylonstoren.
