Born to a slave mother in the 17th century, Anna rose to become one of the Cape's most influential women, inheriting Groot Phesantekraal in 1724 and leaving a legacy defined by resilience, grace and quiet strength. This Mother's Day, her story forms a meaningful backdrop to a celebration of the women who continue to hold families and traditions together.
On 10 May from 12:00 to 15:30, guests are invited to enjoy a multi-course set lunch at R550 per person, beginning with farm bread, seasonal butter, smoked olives and pickles, followed by starters such as stuffed calamari, Wagyu beef tongue and roasted pumpkin with goat's cheese.
Mains continue the farm-to-table spirit with dishes including line fish with braised lentils and smoked mussel velouté, Phesantekraal venison with spiced jus, or a smoked feta, kale and spinach borek.
Dessert offers a final indulgence, from dark chocolate fondant to buttermilk panna cotta with roasted apple ice cream.
Raise a glass to Anna with the estate's flagship Chenin Blanc, crafted in her honour by Richard Schroeder, a wine of citrus brightness, honeyed depth and elegant balance.
