Candidates will enhance their wine knowledge and be able to communicate at a higher level with guests. Introducing important global wine knowledge adds context and background to the wines they serve.
Knowing how food and wine can complement each other and enhance the experience, adds real value to the guest experience. Candidates will discover how to recommend wines with confidence with a deeper knowledge of wine, creating a valuable connection for international and wine knowledgeable guests.
The DTC Academy Wine Sales Advisor Level 2 course covers the following:
- Further wine making – understanding each stage of wine production and why.
- Main wine styles in South Africa – a look at the styles of wine made in South Africa with comparison to their international equivalents.
- Important wine regions of South Africa – an overview of important wine regions, the grapes they are known for and how the climate influences those wines.
- Key international wines – know your Bordeaux from Burgundy, Chianti from Rioja. A look at key international wines every wine professional should know.
- Theory of food and wine pairing – discover why food and wine pairing can enhance the guest experience.
- Discovery wine tasting – compare and contrast wines from different climates.
- Introduction to upselling – learn some basic strategies to sell better wine.
