The South African Sommeliers Association (SASA) is pleased to announce the Best Sommelier of South Africa 2025, which will take place on Wednesday, 10 September 2025, during the opening night of Cape Wine.
This biennial competition brings together the country’s most talented sommeliers in a national showcase of wine knowledge, tasting skill, and service.
The current title holder, Jean-Vincent Ridon, will return to pass on the honour as our finalists compete live in front of an audience and a panel of internationally qualified judges.

Eligibility and entry requirements
To compete, candidates must:
- Be currently working in the South African sommelier or hospitality industry
- Hold valid membership with the South African Sommeliers Association.
