South Africa Wine Research Development & Innovation will host workshops for Senior Cellar Assistants in Robertson, Wellington and Stellenbosch. These workshops will allow Senior Cellar Assistants to increase their knowledge.

During the workshop wine faults will be discussed in detail, i.e. how does it happen? what are the consequences of these faults? and what can be remedied?

Senior Cellar Assistants who are trained to identify wine faults and able to report them in time are of immense value to cellars. The participants will be made aware of the fact that wine faults have financial implications for cellars and that the prevention thereof is an important aspect of the winemaking process.

A qualified winemaker, Elzette Du Preez, and Laffort will present the workshops in Afrikaans and English.

The following applies to the study groups

• Participation is free of charge.
Cellar assistants must have successfully completed the WTSA SKOP 3 qualification.
• Enrolments will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Prior booking, with proof of the participant’s WTSA SKOP 3 qualification, is essential.
• Confirmation of ID numbers, gender, race and citizenship will be required.
• Notes will be available electronically in Afrikaans and English.
• Attendance registers will be available electronically.
• A letter confirming the financial value of the workshop will be available towards the end of 2023.
