Hosted by Spencer Fondaumiere of The South African Sommeliers Association. Co-hosted by two of the most passionate and knowledgeable voices in the industry Angela Jordaan of Noble Vice and Nuschka De Vos of Reyneke Wines.

We all know the concepts of “natural wine” and “minimal intervention,” but what does that really mean and how does that affect the taste, quality, and longevity of a wine? We have put together a masterclass on natural wine with stellar domestic and international examples. “Natural wine has arguably been the major movement of the 21st Century wine world, and for some it has also become a 'lifestyle choice’," writes Elin McCoy, ahead of the Raw wine fair in London.

Angela is one of the partners and organizers of Noble Vice, a festival which focuses on bringing together the art of artisanal food and wine under one roof on an annual basis, focusing on wine producers that work with organic or biodynamic farming practices and minimal intervention in the cellar. Showcasing the most natural way of producing wine in South Africa. She is also the Sales Manager for Bosman Family Vineyards and an extremely passionate person about natural wine.

Angela believes that, "Natural wine is a very grey classification and discussions will be had for hours over ‘what makes a wine natural?' The answer is, you can taste it! Wines with life and soul and true character showcasing the terroir it comes from."

Nuschka is the winemaker at Reyneke Organic, first certified biodynamic winery in South Africa and produced her own natural wine as well. Nuschka is passionate that “In any form of winemaking, one has to start with having exceptional fruit." For her "the only way one can achieve this, is by growing grapes biodynamically or organically. The only way one can make stable, natural and/or minimal intervention wines, is by using fruit grown from these vineyards.”

Join us on Monday the 14th of October at Frogitt & Vonkel Wine Bar (103 Bree St.) Limited 25 Seats | Cost R200 |RSVP: capetown@sommeliers.org.za | Please RSVP by 10th October!
