The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits is our most popular course. It will teach you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs. It will also introduce the Systematic Approach to Wine Tasting which will be followed when tasting each wine.

This course is an ideal introduction to the world of international wines and wine law and is suitable for beginners as well as people who have already studied South African wines.

Who it is aimed at:

  • Wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of wines and spirits and want to obtain an internationally recognised wine qualification.
  • People employed in the drinks and hospitality industries with little previous knowledge of alcoholic beverages in particular international wines.
  • People wishing to pursue a career as a sommelier and who want to learn more about international wines and wine styles before going onto accredited Sommelier qualifications.

The Course:

Each course comprises of a lesson date and an exam date.
The lectures are run on two full days from 08h30 to 17h00.
The exam lasts for one hour and consists of 50 multiple choice questions.
The pass mark is 55%.
