Dine under the starts...
Don’t miss a festival highlight, the Longridge Langtafel on Wednesday, 28
January, when the oak-lined Plein Street, in the heart of the town, will be
transformed for an open-air gala dinner. The 200-seater table will be set in
front of the iconic Stellenbosch town hall where guests will be presented with
a feast paired with wines from the award-winning Longridge wine portfolio.
Diners will be greeted with Longridge MCC bubbly on
arrival, along with a section of delicious snacks, including trout tartar
served in a tortilla basket, traditional Cape Malay samosas with mango atjar,
caramelised onion, gruyere and Dijon tarts, roasted peeled almonds, olives and
South African speciality beef biltong. Live music will ensure the perfect
ambiance. The rest of the menu is just as exciting: for starters a Caprese
salad with homemade fior di latte mozzarella, sun-ripened tomatoes and organic
basil from the Longridge restaurant garden accompanied by home-baked bread and
citrus butter main course (paired with the refreshing Longridge Blanc white
blend); and the entrée consists of a prawn tempura tower with layered grilled
aubergine, avocado and red onion and wasabi mayonnaise and chilli sauce. This
will be perfectly matched with the Longridge Chardonnay.
The main course features free-range beef fillet with a potato cake, baked bone marrow, red wine jus and steamed broccoli and will be served with the Longridge Cabernet Sauvignon. For the grand finale, guests will tuck into a chocolate parfait with fresh cherries, Kahlua and salted caramel with berry meringue, accompanied by the Longridge Pinotage. As the evening draws to a close, guests will be able to savour table cheese platters with Longridge kumquat preserve, Shiraz jam and candied pecans paired with the Edelgoud noble late harvest or Lavazza Coffee. Tickets to the event cost R700 per person and can be purchased directly from Longridge.
