Surrounded by abundant planting, seasonal produce and the beauty of the historic Werf, guests will be invited to explore the garden through five immersive and educational hands-on experiences, each revealing a different part of the story behind what grows here.
Your journey will take you from waste to soil, soil to life, and seed to bloom, discovering the people, plants and natural processes that help our gardens thrive.
Groups will rotate between five stations throughout the experience, with each station offering a unique glimpse into the practices that make a regenerative garden possible.
Guests will take home a special keepsake from each of the five stations, giving you something tangible to remember your Garden Day experience by, and perhaps even something to inspire your own garden at home. Come curious and leave with a fresh appreciation for the incredible world growing right beneath our feet.
Groups will rotate between five stations throughout the experience, with each station offering a unique glimpse into the practices that make a regenerative garden possible:
Composting: Explore the composting process, discover what makes great compost and meet some of the tiny organisms doing the important work of breaking down organic matter.
Mushroom Cultivation: Discover how mushrooms are cultivated at Boschendal and explore the fascinating relationship between fungi, decomposition and regenerative food production.
Herbal Medicine: Explore the garden through your senses as you discover the traditional uses and stories behind some of the herbs growing around you. Smell, touch and taste your way through the garden while learning how these plants can be grown, harvested and enjoyed.
Flowers: Learn what is flowering in the garden, how flowers are grown and harvested, and how they become part of the beautiful experiences created at Boschendal. You’ll also discover the important role flowers play beyond their beauty, providing habitat and nourishment for pollinators and supporting biodiversity in the garden. The experience will be paired with Jo Malone scents and Boschendal Cap Classique, creating a sensory journey that connects the garden’s blooms with fragrance and flavour.
Seed Saving and Propagation: From collecting and storing seeds to propagating new plants, this experience will reveal how we can look beyond the garden we see today and actively grow for the future.
