Join Bouchard Finlayson Winemaker Chris Albrecht and Farm Manager Stefan Hartman on 24 June for ‘The Architecture of Pinot Noir: Foundations for Greatness’, an intimate masterclass in Pinot Noir at their POP UP wine bar in Hermanus.

Bouchard Finlayson is delighted to present the second instalment in our ‘WITH CARE’ series of monthly gatherings at our POP UP wine bar in Hermanus, after a successful launch of the guided tastings last month. Join us on Wednesday, 24 June for ‘The Architecture of Pinot Noir: Foundations for Greatness’, an intimate masterclass in Pinot Noir drawn from our estate in the HemelenAarde Valley.

Hosted by winemaker Chris Albrecht and farm manager Stefan Hartmann, this unique tasting experience explores the quiet mastery behind truly distinguished Pinot Noir. Discover how the nuances of the HemelenAarde Valley’s ancient Bokkeveld shale soils and cool maritime climate conjure up purity, clarity and finesse in every bottle. Guided by insight and sensorial discovery, guests are invited to understand Pinot Noir not merely as a wine, but as an architectural expression that is layered, deliberate and enduring.

On the evening, guests will enjoy a curated vertical tasting of Bouchard Finlayson Pinot Noirs, thoughtfully selected to illustrate structure, evolution and site expression. Each wine will be introduced with expert commentary, offering rare access to the philosophy and precision behind one of South Africa’s most revered producers.

Over the course of the evening, guests can expect:

  • Guided tastings of our award-winning wines led bywinemaker Chris Albrecht
  • Two tasting flights of Galpin Peak Pinot Noir, across select vintages
  • Special tastings of rare bottles from our vinothèque
  • Conversations and discourse inspired by some of South Africa’s finest Pinot Noirs
  • A setting that encourages reflection, dialogue and discovery
  • A curated selection of seasonal, locally sourced platters celebrating regional ingredients
