This workshop will introduce participants to the creation of a blank open-spine accordion book - a beginner-friendly binding method that covers the fundamental principles of bookbinding.
The accordion structure (also known as leporello or concertina binding) naturally supports the theme of landscape, as the book can be fully extended into a panoramic format.
Participants will fold long strips of paper into a zigzag formation, which will then be cased with two hardcovers adhered to either end of the paper block. When fully opened, all pages are visible at once, making this format especially appealing for artists who wish to display work in a gallery context. The interior pages will remain blank, with the option to add simple line drawings or collage.
This workshop will include a coffee and pastry morning break and a seasonal lunch curated especially for this workshop. Come as you are - all you need to bring is your creativity and curiosity.
