Climb aboard a vintage military truck and enjoy exclusive wine tastings at family-owned farms Zevenwacht, Kaapzicht, and Mooiplaas. This guided off-road adventure is a new offering on the menu and the ideal way to explore – sit back, relax and soak in nature. This unique experience will take you on a wine journey across three family-owned wine farms steeped in history in the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy. The off-road trail will take you through critically endangered Renosterveld fynbos and vineyards. You will be treated to specially crafted wine tastings and pairings at each stop, including a charcuterie platter and a biltong pairing.
At Kaapzicht, explore a flight of six wines (three Chenin Blancs, a rosé, and two Pinotages) with a cheese platter. Did you know? The name Kaapzicht means "Cape view" and is attributed to the beautiful views of Table Mountain. Located on the Bottelary hill, the farm experiences a mild climate with cool sea breezes and consists of old, weathered granite soils – perfect for crafting wines with a sense of belonging, at once familiar and extraordinary.
Next, experience a sense of place at Mooiplaas, where you will taste four distinct wines from the Roos Family Range – Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon – served with olives and crackers. Mooiplaas Wine Estate and Private Nature Reserve has been in the Roos family since 1963. One of its most striking features is the uneven terrain, from the meadows on the valley floor to the watershed on top of the hills. There is a difference of approximately 235 meters between the highest and the lowest areas on the estate. These topographical contrasts result in interesting differences in the microclimate
The final stop is Zevenwacht Wine Estate. With its picturesque setting, historic Manor House, and rural atmosphere, it exemplifies the abundant delights which await visitors to the estate. The farm has officially been recognised as a WWF Conservation Champion, joining a group of environmentally responsible wine farms committed to sustainable practices and biodiversity conservation. Savour the pleasure of sampling four Estate wines, carefully paired with four different types of biltong and droëwors.
Only 12 spots per vehicle, with a minimum of 6 guests per vehicle and a maximum of 24 across the two trucks. Tickets cost R1 295 per person.
