Dirtopia
Join us for a unique after-hours hiking experience at Muratie Wine Estate, where the beauty of the Winelands meets the magic of a lunar eclipse.
Take a scenic 2km hike along a steep vineyard road to a stunning lookout point atop Muratie. Arrive any time from 17h00 - 18h00 at Dirtopia Trail Centre, then enjoy panoramic views of Table Mountain and the Winelands as the sun sets (18h30). The full moon will rise over Simonsberg around 19h00, followed by the lunar eclipse at approximately 20h15.
What to expect
- Exclusive hiking route with breathtaking views
- Muratie wines available by glass or bottle (MCC, Dry Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Melck’s Dry Red)
- Astronomer Carol Botha will have a telescope set up for star and eclipse viewing
- Snacks and cool drinks on sale at the Trail Centre
- Opportunity to picnic at the lookout with your own food and blanket
Arrive from 17h00, latest start at 18h00.
The cost is R145 per person and R70 per child u10.
Bring a backpack with picnic and blanket, warm clothing (jacket, beanie, scarf) for after dark, a torch or headlamp, and sturdy walking or hiking shoes.
