'The Melting Pot' Talk with Rob Caskie

We are delighted to announce that renowned storyteller and historian Rob Caskie will be presenting his captivating talk, "The Melting Pot: An African Odyssey", on 25 September 2025 in Vergelegen's library. Known for his vivid narratives and deep knowledge of South African history, Rob Caskie brings to life the complex and colourful tapestry of the region’s past.

In this engaging presentation, he will guide us through a dynamic journey spanning the last 200 years, exploring the arrival of the Nguni people, the impact of European settlement driven by trade and conflict, and the transformative discovery of diamonds and gold. With his signature flair, Rob will illuminate the cultural collisions, dramatic landscapes, and unforgettable characters that have shaped South Africa into the vibrant nation it is today. A little of Vergelegen’s storied past will also be featured in the talk.
