Artificial Intelligence in Wine: ethics, opportunities and applications Webinar

Wednesday, 13 November, 2024
Vinimark
TIME:    10h00
VENUE:    Online

The purpose of this discussion is to open up a world of practical applications and possibilities for wine producers. But it should be noted that, for every opportunity that we explore, we will also be unpacking the pitfalls, and the necessary ethical considerations that need to be processed.

In preparation for our next webinar, we found ourselves mulling over the following quote: “AI is not going to replace humans, but humans with AI are going to replace humans without AI." - Karim Lakhani, Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School

With this idea in mind, Vinimark has set about assembling a panel of local and international thought leaders, who are exploring the vanguard of the application of AI in the areas of viticulture, wine making, marketing, and sales strategies. But as important as the application of AI is in these areas, there is an even more important layer to the conversation that revolves around the responsibilities of the humans who use AI, and the level of trust with which we engage with AI.

The purpose of this discussion is to open up a world of practical applications and possibilities for wine producers. But it should be noted that, for every opportunity that we explore, we will also be unpacking the pitfalls, and the necessary ethical considerations that need to be processed.

Our panel

  • Dr Albert Strever - Senior Lecturer, Dept of Viticulture and Oenology, Stellenbosch University
