Stellenbosch Wine Routes
For the very first time, the façade of the imposing Town Hall of Stellenbosch will form the backdrop to a lineup of local classical stars in a programme exclusively produced for the event. The full Stellenbosch City Orchestra under the baton of Dr Paul Loeb van Zuilenburg will accompany Janel Speelman (soprano), Lynelle Kenned (soprano), Louis Loock (tenor), and Niël Rademan (baritone).
Together they will breathe new life into iconic melodies from the classical, musical theatre, and opera repertoires that have resonated with audiences for decades, such as La Bohème, Die Fledermaus, Les Misérables, The Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, and more.
Classical music often draws inspiration from the natural world. A few nature-inspired songs to look forward to at Garden Town Classics are the "Flower Duet" from Léo Delibes' opera Lakmé, “Barcarolle” from The Tales of Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach, the “Vilja Song” from The Merry Widow, and Love Changes Everything from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Aspects of Love. The orchestra will also perform the beloved Blue Danube waltz by Johann Strauss II and music from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
The cost is R495 pp (includes seat & arrival drink). A bar with wines and soft drinks will be available before the performance. Tickets via Plankton.
Unfortunately children under the age of 12 not allowed.
