Spier and Third World Bunfight presents the third iteration of 'A Summer Dream' under a starlit sky on 13, 14 and 15 December 2024.

Under an open sky, this surreal and magical spectacle weaves a fantastical tale of light and hope, brought to life by a weird and wonderful ensemble of dancers, clowns, actors and musicians. "A Summer Dream" is an enchanting family-friendly show, staged outdoors in a magnificent natural amphitheatre on the farm. As night falls, a troupe of weird and wonderful characters gathers to create a world of fantasy, bringing the landscape alive with colour and sound. The hour-long performance features a cast of dancers, musicians, singers, and actors.

Produced by Third World Bunfight, and underscored by the haunting songs of Capetonian Jak Tomas, ‘A Summer Dream’ unfolds within a dramatic natural landscape as night falls.

The event starts on the Werf. Ticket options include Spier’s delicious food options, from a braaied burger to a picnic spread. As the light of the day moves slowly into darkness, make your way to the arena and settle down on the lush green lawn. Celebrate the festive season this year by doing something different with your whole family.

Enjoy a meal on Spier Werf from 18h00, and head to the arena at 19h30. There is a 5 minute walk to the performance area and seating is outdoors on the grass.

Tickets are from R200 for adults, R100 for children under 12.

Art, like food and wine, is best shared, which is why Spier is such an enthusiastic supporter of African artists and their creations. Housing one of the largest contemporary collections in the country, we believe art has the power to teach and inspire, encouraging us all to engage openly with our world and each other. With such a thriving local artistic community and rich cultural heritage, we’re excited about the future of South African art.
