Alto
Alto, an iconic South African wine estate, is marking a significant milestone this year by releasing the 100th consecutive vintage of the renowned Alto Rouge red blend. The first vintage was produced in 1922 and exported for sale to the United Kingdom in 1924. The success of Alto Rouge in the British market led to the wine being introduced in South Africa in 1933, where it has since become a South African classic.
To celebrate this special occasion, Simon Wine Emporium is hosting an exclusive winemakers dinner on Thursday, 12th September.
The cost is R520 per person and tickets may be purchased via Dineplan.
We have put together a three course menu to complement the elegance and complexity of Alto Rouge.
Cellar master, Bertho van der Westhuizen, will guide guests through a vertical tasting of the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 vintages of Alto Rouge. In addition, some of these older vintages will be available for purchase at the tasting.
