Lionel Beukes is a South African jazz musician and composer who grew up in District Six, Cape Town. He started playing professionally in 1970 and performed and recorded albums with renowned South African pianist Abdullah Ebrahim (Dollar Brand).
In South Africa he worked as an entertainer for the Holiday Inn Group as well as on the Southern Sun and Sun International entertainment circuit, including Sun City. Internationally he performed at the Hilton Hotel in Abu Dhabi, the Royal Meridian in Dubai, the Hilton Hotel, and the Shangri La Hotel in Shanghai.
Lional plays the double bass, the electric bass and is a vocalist. His repertoire includes jazz standards such as music by Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra and this multi talent of a musician is followed and adored by fans the world over.
