The Malan dynasty of three generations have been the custodians of Simonsig since 1968. This history of the much-lauded Stellenbosch estate, began with Frans Malan who is remembered for producing the Kaapse Vonkel, South Africaʼs first Cap Classique made in the classic bottle-fermented style and also honoured for co-founding the thriving Stellenbosch Wine Route. Today, his legacy lives on through his sons, Francois and Johan, and grandchildren Francois-Jacques, Christelle and Michael, the 2nd and 3rd Malan generations at Simonsig Wine Estate.
Michael Malan is the current winemaker and produces four exceptional ranges, The Garland, The Malan Family Selection, Cap Classique and Cultivar.
