TIME:    18h30
VENUE:    Du Toitskloof Tasting Room, Du Toitskloof Wines, R101, Rawsonville

On Friday 23 February, DTK Wines in Rawsonville is hosting the opening night of the Student2Star Art Collab Exhibition.

On Friday, 23 February, DTK Wines will be hosting the opening night of our first collaborative art exhibition, showcasing the works of five hand-selected primary school children from the 2Blossom Foundation and the Fairtrade project.

Alongside these young students, we will also welcome their mentors and previously exhibited artists at Du Toitskloof. These artists spent over twelve weeks, investing their time and experience, introducing the students to the foundations of visual art – all forming part of our first Student2Star Mentorship Programme.

The Student2Star Mentorship Programme was an idea that came to life when Ed Beukes, DTK Wines marketing and export manager, and Alexa van Tonder, project manager of the 2Blossom Foundation, created a structure in which artistic potential could be harnessed by giving a select few children exposure to the world of art in the form of a mentorship programme.

At the opening night we will host a quick interview with artists Madeleine Du Toit, Mainka and Mieke Droomer and listen to their experience as Student2Star mentors, and the transformational impact of art as a means to self-discovery, exposure and social development. We will also be welcoming Dutch friends and members from the 2Blossom Foundation board of directors.

2Blossom Foundation is a project funded by DTK's Dutch importer, Intense Wines, with the goal to create a safe after-school care centre where children can feel safe to express their emotions and creativity. Often children wander aimlessly after school while their parents are still at work and this can encourage drug addiction, abuse and gangsterism. The 2Blossom Foundation is closing this gap and changing the lives of the community's children.

Please support our art exhibition as all the proceeds from the children's art will go back to the 2Blossom Foundation.
