With pecan nuts in season, there are many glorious baking options, but in this hands-on workshop you will learn how to make a classic pecan nut pie with flaky pie dough and nutty filling. We invite you to share in the season and join us in the heritage kitchen of Soetmelksvlei for a day of baking fun.
Following a short ride along the picturesque slopes of Simonsberg, we’ll descend towards the historical farmyard of Soetmelksvlei, which represents a time when life was simpler, and craftsmanship was treasured. Here, master baker Martjie Malan will teach you her secrets to the classic pecan nut pie. You’ll also learn to bake a carrot and pecan nut cake and ice it with cream cheese buttercream.
After a hands-on morning in the farm air, we’ll enjoy a hearty lunch at the Old Stables Restaurant before heading back to Babylonstoren.
The cost is R1500 per person and only 10 places are available.
Please meet us at the Babylonstoren ticket office at 08h30. The workshop will end at 15h00.
