Held outdoors (weather permitting) in the grounds of the iconic Royal Hotel in Riebeek Kasteel, overlooking the vineyards, fruit orchards and olive groves of the Riebeek Valley and under the shadow of the Kasteelberg, this event allows a limited number of people the opportunity to interact with some of the winemakers and/or owners of these wineries, during one of three 90 minute sessions on Saturday 12 December.
This year’s participants include the following wine producers:
- Sonja and Andreas Abold - Lammershoek
As a member of the Swartland Independent Movement, Lammershoek strives for minimum intervention in fruit-driven wines that express the terroir.
- Pieter du Toit - Kloovenburg
A falcon guards the day, an owl the night, which are, in turn, watched over and protected by the conservation-minded Du Toit family of Kloovenburg.
- Thinus Kruger - Fram
“With an extremely shaky captain like myself at the helm, this can only be an exciting journey.”
- Andrea and Chris Mullineux - Mullineux and Leeu
By 2020 the winery had been awarded Platter’s Winery of the Year an unprecedented 4 times, in 2014, 2016, 2019 and 2020.
- Adi Badenhorst - A.A.Badenhorst
“It all started when Jean Daneel, then winemaker at Buitenverwachting, let me make my first wine when I was thirteen.”
