The South African Wine Tasting Championship (SAWTC) is a public event calling for all talents to test their abilities at tasting wines. Wine lovers will finally be at the center of a wine event. Come and taste 50 wines from some of the best South African wineries at the glamorous Taj Hotel in Cape Town and see if you are a champion.
After having enjoyed these exciting wines(sighted), competitors will enter the blind tasting arena and will have to identify 10 wines served to them blind, identifying as many characteristics of the wines.
Wine lovers who recognise most of the wines will be invited to the National Finals on the 1st of July, (also held at The Taj in Cape Town) to win their seat to go to France, where they will participate in the World Blind Wine Tasting Competition later this year, organised by French Wine Magazine - La Revue du vin de France.
Put your taste buds to the test, and become the Western Cape Provincial Champion for 2018, and possibly part of #TeamSA2018!
The SAWTC has two goals:
- Recognise and Award the Top Wine tasters in South Africa
- Select Team South Africa going to the World Blind Tasting Challenge
In the spirit of ongoing education, and in an attempt to encourage new converts into the closed circle that is the wine world, the SAWTC offers all wine lovers the chance to put their taste buds and memory recall to the test.
Ticket is R250 per person for the wine tasting of 50 wines and includes the competition.
